RUSSIA - GRAIN POWER?

Khomyakov D.

Use of farmlands of Russia for grain production (problems, limitations, prospects and forecast)
Message 1. Grain production of Russia for 1955-2010 and near-term outlooks of its development

The paper covers the problems of rational organization of agricultural lands, state of soil and land resources. Unbalanced increase in the segment of food crops (esp. wheat) to 60-62 % and above in the total cultivated area, high fallow rate in arable land structure, lack of nature conservation technologies reduce the stability of grain harvests. Average productivity of grain crops in the next five years, (since 2011), will not exceed 18,0 ts/hectare, while average gross grain harvest (weight after reprocessing) at the developed structure of crops, their area, low level of an intensification of agriculture will not surpass the rate of 80 million tons a year.
