About resources for the production of lamb in the Stavropol region

In the Stavropol region, as you know, different breed of sheep productivity. The region is home to such fine-wool breeds of sheep as Stavropol, Caucasus, Manych Merino, semi-fine - masochistic and North Caucasian meat - tashlinskiy, which became widely known and popular not only in our country but also abroad.
The basis of sheep of fine-wool edge is the direction of production (about 90% of the total sheep population), specialized in the production of wool - until recently, and rightly considered the main products of the industry. It should be noted, to date, narrow specialization, based only on the production of wool – inefficient.
As a consequence of the successful development of sheep breeding is possible under condition of increase of its efficiency due to the increase of sheep productivity, reduce production costs and improve product quality. The work, undertaken by specialists of the State institution "Center of breeding resources of the Ministry of agriculture of Stavropol Krai is aimed at increasing the precocity, improvement of fattening and meat qualities of young animals, increased fertility of ewes in the agricultural organizations for breeding sheep. The paper presents the results of a study on fattening and meat quality rams planned major sheep breeds in Stavropol region, with a view to their optimal use in the organization the production of lamb.
