Breeding dairy cattle resources of Belgorod region

Reforming the tribal base of dairy cattle must be based on a fundamentally new approach to the organization of breeding work, taking into account regional aspect. Evaluation of breeding Belgorod region shows that the region has the genetic potential for creation of highly productive herds of dairy cattle. Well-developed network of breeding plants and reproducers has a population of over 42 thousand goal and 27 thousand goal of which are cows. Breed structure includes the most productive Holstein and Black-and-White breed, and Red-and-White and Simmental, making a significant contribution to the genetic diversity of the gene pool of the region. Productivity of animals in the breeding farms of all categories is at a level of 7745 kg of milk with fat content of 3.74 %. Milk yield of cows for 2011 – 2016 has been increased by 1281 kg, and milk fat – 0.10 %. The main objectives of the tribal service area should be considered that the entire amount of breeding with different breeds of dairy cattle, including both the breeding and commercial animals in farms of all categories; obtaining and growing males for the new generation of enterprises, checking them on the basis of genomic selection; conducting large-scale genetic studies in livestock breeding.
