Seed productivity and quality of seeds of spanish bayonet (Yucca aloifolia L.) depending on the size of formed fruits at open pollination

The results of study of the seed productivity and quality of seeds of the Spanish bayonet (Yucca aloifolia L.) depending on the size of formed fruits at open pollination are provided. The fruits’ size depending on their location at the double dibotry complex terminal inflorescence has been defined. It has been established that the fruits formed in the first half of flowering are larger and contain more seeds since these flowers have more potential capabilities compared to flowers that are flowering in the second half of this period. The characteristics and range of endogenous variability of the Spanish bayonet’s fruits at open pollination assessed with the aid of objective mathematical criteria have been demonstrated. The similarities and differences, correlative connection and character of distribution curves of investigated parameters have been specified. The dependence of the real seed productivity on fruit size is directly related. The range of endogenous variability of the Spanish bayonet’s seeds varies over vide range and depends mainly on the magnitude of studied traits. The growth correlations have been revealed that manifest the optimal way of the organism’s interaction with the environment. The X-ray investigations of the Spanish bayonet’s seeds have shown their high quality at open pollination. These distinctions are particularly evident at embryo-spectrums. The factual materials presented in the article are relevant, have scientific novelty and practical utility.
