In the article the analysis of degradation processes when using agricultural lands in Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and defines the main activities on preservation and improvement of these lands. Set out the basic principles of the concept of efficient farming, a steady adherence to which is locally adapted production systems together with the use of high quality seeds and integrated fertilizer management application of means of protection of plants and water regime will increase the efficiency of agricultural production.
