Ontogenetic cycle of Serratula coronata L. in a culture in the Non-Chernozem zone of Russia

In article the description of Serratula coronata L. ontogenetic cycle on the example of different geographical origin populations that were acclimatized and cultivated in the Moscow region. Serratula coronata in ontogeny develops as a perennial plant (periods latent, pregenerative, generative). Provides qualitative and quantitative features that characterize morphogenesis in the respective periods and age states of the ontogenetic cycle. Established time periods and age states of an ontogenesis in the conditions of culture. The latent period of ontogenesis is the seeds. The seeds of S. coronata observed shallow physiological dormancy that lasts more than 7 months, while the germination of freshly harvested seed does not exceed 5-8 %. Pregenerative period: seedlings in the field when inwinter sowing appear on 12-22 day after heating of the soil surface (0-2 cm) to a temperature of +10 to+12°C; the height of seedlings does not exceed 2-2,5 cm, the length of the spine of 0.9-1.5 cm. Juvenile age status continues 30-40 days as from the appearance of the first true leaf until the death of the cotyledons. Plant height does not exceed 7-9 cm, the roots penetrate to a depth of 5-7 cm. Immature age status lasts 65 to 70 days from formation of rosette basal leaves to the formation of basal subsidiary rosette in the region of the root collar and the emergence of the generative shoots rudiments. By the end of the 1 year of vegetation plants have developed a rosette with a height of 50-60 cm from 12-18 basal leaves, shorter shoot (rosette) with a thickness of 3.5-4 cm with 2-3 basal subsidiary rosette and embedded in the leaf axils of vegetative buds. Generative plants starting from the 2nd year depending on the ages of 3 to 18 axial well foliated stems and an extensive root system, which lies to the depth of 19-22 cm. The presented results are scientific novelty and practical value to the development of agrotechnical methods of Serratula coronata cultivation in Non-Chernozem zone condition.
