The use of sorghum grain in feeding young chickens and laying hens

The research was conducted with the aim of studying the influence and establishing the optimal amount of grain sorghum in place of corn grain in the compound feed for hens of the parent herd of the cross «Hayseks brown». The studies were carried out in the conditions of the second-order reproductive productor of the SP «Svetly» of the Svetloyarsky District of the Volgograd Region in the period from 2015 to 2017. The use of sorghum grain in place of corn in the feed composition had a positive effect on the live weight of the young, the egg laying hens and their reproductive ability. This replacement also had a positive effect on the course of oxidation-reduction processes in the body of the bird, which allows us to conclude that the feeding is of full value. Also, the use of sorghum grains in feed for juveniles contributed to an increase in live weight by 1.07-4.00 %, and in laying hens - an increase in egg productivity by 0.66-1.29 % and an improvement in the incubation qualities of the egg.
