Ecological state of soils of voilers with animals and birds of Rostov Zoo

A comparative study of soils was carried out on the territory of the Rostov-on-Don zoo in 2017-2018. A significant variation in the ecological state of soils was found in 10 monitoring sites, including 7 sites with different animals and birds. The physical properties of soils (density, pene-tration resistance, structure) deteriorate significantly in cages with large ungulates in most cases. Pollution by heavy metals is not revealed in the soils of the zoo. The content of plant nutrients is increased in the soils of sites with fauna. Biological parameters of soils vary depending on the type of indicator, the size of the enclosure, the size and activity of the animals kept and the season of the year. The soil enzyme activity at different monitoring sites of the zoo can decrease (catalase in some sites) and increase (phosphatase, invertase, dehydrogenase). The enzyme activity of is lowered in crowded by the visitors to the soil of the playground in comparison with the control.
