Ecological and physiological features of Yakut cattle

A characteristic feature of the exterior of the native Yakut cattle is a relatively long barrel-shaped torso, short strong legs, heavily overgrown body and udder, head with a wide forehead with a small width between the horns (9.6 cm); chest depth is deep and relatively narrow, indicating good meat articles and the ability to fatten. Blood counts are within the physiological norm. It was found that in the winter stables there is the highest content of hemoglobin in the blood, the number of red blood cells and white blood cells compared to other seasons of the year. Thus, in winter, the blood hemoglobin content is 119.0±0.30 g/l, the number of red blood cells – 7.5±0.20•1012/l, the number of white blood cells – 8.4±1.23•109/l, which is 16, 6.72 and 7.14 % and 9.33, 5.04 and 13.1 %, respectively, higher than in spring and summer. The data obtained indicate the increased intensity of the redox reaction in the body as one of the indicators of adaptation of Yakut cattle to extreme environmental conditions.
