This article examines the current challenges facing the Russian agro-industrial complex and the ways to implement its development objectives. Given global trends, by 2024, exports of the industry’s products should reach $ 45 billion in value terms. The recent, seemingly fundamental, drivers of growth in the agro-industrial complex have exhausted themselves. For the new “breakthrough” there are two main factors - the rational use of natural resources and the growth of labor productivity. Algorithms for achieving the desired effect are considered. Requires increased attention and advancing rates of support and improvement of the social sphere of the village of the country, training. It is necessary to create and implement a national project for the development of the AIC of Russia.
