Promising source material for breeding alfalfa (Medicago L.) in the Northe Trans-Urals

Objective: to study samples of alfalfa from the world collection of VNIIR. N. And. Vavilov and expansion of genetic diversity involved in crossing forms. Experimental studies were carried out in the North Trans-Urals GAU, in the Northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region (2013-2015). As a result of research the source material for use in practical selection is allocated. Significantly higher vegetative productivity, in comparison with the standards revealed samples: Sretensky 77, Zabaikalje , Taiga, Yellowhybrid 99, Kamalinskaya 1323. Of particular value are varieties that are stable over the years in different weather conditions formed seeds: Fast, Omsk 7, Sarga. The selected sources are the basis for further hybridization to increase the productivity of alfalfa, to overcome the vulnerability of varieties to stress factors. The experimentally tested source material can be used in practical breeding in the North Trans-Urals, as well as in scientific institutions of the Ural, West Siberian and East Siberian regions.
