The dynamics of germination and viability of seeds of tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.), depending on the period of harvest and storage time

The subject of research - seeds of tansy ordinary. The aim of the research is to determine the optimal time of harvesting and the duration of storage of tansy seeds. The research was conducted in 2012...2018 on Kostroma state agricultural Academy. Seed samples for the study were obtained from wild coenopopulation tansy in 2012. To determine the optimal harvesting time, the seeds were collected in four periods, when 50% of all inflorescences on the generative shoot reached the phenological stage: "mid-flowering", "end of flowering" and "full maturation of seeds", as well as in the spring after overwintering the seeds directly in the inflorescences. To study the duration of seed storage, samples were used that underwent natural stratification directly in the inflorescences during the winter period 2012/2013. Samples for analysis included all seeds of each collection period, regardless of their degree of maturation, which simulated combine harvesting. Seeds were stored in hermetically sealed plastic packaging in a dry room at a temperature of 17 ... 20 °C. Determination of seed germination was carried out according to GOST R 51096-97. The duration of storage was determined by the results of annual (April 20) germination analysis. As a result of researches it is established that increase of energy of germination and germination depended on degree of maturity of achenes. Germination of seeds harvested in the middle of flowering was 7.5 %, at the end of flowering-18.5 %, at the stage of full maturation-31.5 %, after overwintering in inflorescences-59.5 %. The beginning of germination of «in vitro» seeds depended on the period of harvesting and ranged from 3 days (harvested in bloom) to 1...2 days (full maturation and overwintering). The maximum number of sprouted seeds was observed at 6 ... 7 days. The permissible minimum germination of a batch of seeds for industrial plantings with a seeding rate of 4.0...5.0 kg/ha lies in the range of 12.0...20.0 %, and the maximum shelf life of the batch of seeds before sowing is 4...5 years. To calculate the dynamics of germination reduction depending on the year of storage, a regression model is developed that operates with an accuracy of 99.995 %.
