The influence of storage periods on seed quality of alfalfa seed (Medicago varia L.) in the Northe Trans-Urals

The aim of the research is to study the sowing qualities of alfalfa seeds during storage six, twelve and eighteen months after harvesting. Experimental studies were carried out in the Northe Trans-Urals GAU, in the Northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region (2013-2016). As a result of researches it is established that at long storage energy of germination of seeds and their laboratory germination increases. Probably, solid seeds, which were in a state of hidden life, gradually begin to germinate. Climatic conditions in 2013 and 2016 formed the most favorable for the formation of alfalfa seeds, so the energy of germination and laboratory germination of seeds in these years is higher. After 18 months of storage of the seeds of alfalfa are obtained in favourable climatic conditions, the laboratory germination capacity amounted to 90-96 %. Length of seedling seeds by this time was of 5.13 cm for the variety Omskaya 7 and of 5.16 cm in the variety of Fast, up 11-16% of this index during storage for 6 months.
