Productivity and quality of onion hybrids in the Central irrigated zone of the Rostov region

The article deals with the results of studies on the influence of the characteristics of hybrids of onions with different colors of dry and juicy scales on resistance to major diseases, productivity and quality indicators obtained by irrigation in the Central irrigated zone of the Rostov region onion turnips. It was found that the most precocious were hybrids of Comet and Red bull with red color of dry scales. The studied hybrids of onions differed in a complex of economically valuable traits and are quite suitable for cultivation in the Veselovsky district of the Rostov region. The hybrids we studied in the experiment had an average yield of 44.4 t/ha in 2016 for each year of research, to 53.3 t / ha in 2018, which made it possible to obtain an increase to the control of 30.1-37.5%. Among the studied hybrids the most productive were hybrids Mars and candy, slightly lower yield gave hybrids amber and Comet, and the minimum difference in comparison with the control was observed in the hybrid Red bull. All heterosis hybrids of onion exceeded the productivity standard. The studied hybrids of onions were of high quality marketable products. By disease resistance, hybrids with red color of dry scales stood out.
