Assessment and prediction of radiation exposure to reference organisms from atmospheric releases of the Beloyarsk NPP

The paper presents the assessment and prediction of radiation doses to biota reference organisms resulted from the exposure to the atmospheric emissions of the BN-600 and BN-800 power units of the Beloyarsk NPP and the reactor of the Institute of Reactor Materials. It shows that doses to terrestrial biota from the exposure to BN-800 reactor emissions are expected to be half the dose from BN-600 reactor. By 2030, with the joint operation of both power units, biota radiation doses will not exceed 6.4·10-3 μGy/h. By 2030, considering the combined effect of the power units of the Beloyarsk NPP and the reactor of the Institute of Reactor Materials, radiation doses to biota are expected to be below 0.02 μGy/h. The most significant dose-forming radionuclides will be 3H and 41Ar.
