The state of forest litter in spruce stands of the Udmurt Republic

The article presents the results of a study of the state of forest litter in the drying out foci of spruce stands growing in the coniferous-deciduous and south-taiga of forest zones of the Udmurt Republic. It was established that in the study areas the forest litter includes three morphological layers. Most of the forest litter is made up of completely decomposed residues or dust from 44 to 77%, the prevalence of the upper undecomposed layer over the semi-decomposed middle layer is noted. In the Yagan forestry, which is characterized by clean spruce plantations with densities of 0.4 and 0.1 in the sample plots, where the litter is characterized by higher humidity, the prevalence of horizon A0”’ is noted. Similar features were noted for the test area with higher humidity in the Yakshur-Bolinsky forestry, characterized by mixed stands with high density.
