Lichens as a potential raw material

The content of biologically active substances in the thallomas of four species of tundra lichens of the genus Cladonia was determined by standard methods. It was found that the maximum content of ascorbic and usninic acid (12.8 mg/100 g and 1.83 %) is characterized by C. Stellaris. C. alpestris thallomas contain the highest amount of bioflavonoids and carotene: 2000 mg / 100 g and 255 mcg/100 g, respectively. C. Stellaris and other studied lichens are promising raw materials for the food industry and pharmacy.
