Species diversity of steppe phytocenoses Tsimlyansk sand massif

The aim of the research was to assess the species diversity and ecological organization of the communities of the grass-shrub layer of the Tsimlyansk sand massif. Phyto-diversity monitoring was carried out by the method of reconnaissance surveys with the identification of key areas. Within the basic geomorphological units of the massif, the main types and groups of vegetation, their species composition, dominants, and abundance are identified according to the degree of moisture. On the territory of the sand massif 185 grass and shrub species from 41 families were found that occupy a position in the communities depending on the moisture content of the territory. The most common species of the family Asteraceae, Fabaceae and Poaceae, especially in areas of sufficient and variable moisture, as well as moderate moisture, where the largest total number of species was identified. Territories of complete hydration (I) are characterized by the presence of 7 species from 6 families, the territory of excess moisture (II) are characterized by the presence of 19 species from 10 families, the territory of sufficient and variable hydration (III) are characterized by the presence of 112 species from 29 families, the territory of moderate hydration (IV) characterized by the presence of 78 species from 17 families, the territory of insufficient complex moisture (Vа) is characterized by the presence of 25 species from 12 families, the territory of complex insufficient moisture under the sand hillocks and moderate moisture in the tunnels and washed out sands (Vb) are characterized by the presence of 35 species from 13 families
