Determination of coumarin in Melilotus officinalis (L.) Pall. by high performance liquid chromatography |
|
The content of coumarins in various vegetative organs of sweet clover growing in five different districts of the Republic of Tatarstan was examined using the HPLC method. Highest concentration of coumarin in Melilotus officinalis L., regardless of its habitat, was determined in flowers (0.19-0.48% of dry weight). The sweet clover plants growing in the Verkhneuslonsky district showed the highest content of coumarin, which is most likely associated with a high level of insolation. The study revealed that the growth conditions of M. officinalis L. affect the synthesis and distribution of secondary metabolites including coumarin content in morphological groups of the plant
