The article presents the results of a study of the effectiveness of thermal preparation of a car transmission using a heat shield. The dependences of the oil temperature in the gearbox on the warm-up time are studied, on the basis of which the maximum heating temperature and the time to reach thermal equilibrium and the target temperature are determined. The dependences of the amount of energy absorbed by the unit on the warm-up time are obtained. A comparative analysis of the efficiency of the thermal preparation of the gearbox for the basic and the proposed version is carried out
